softball bitches

last night i played with the chicago magazine softball team. a motley crew of the most random people. despite being pieced together last minute, we seriously kicked ass. won 15 to 4! a major victory. i personally scored two runs and felt like a champ! after the game we grubbed at the twisted spoke (kinda nasty food, but they sponsor the team) and discussed the victory. i think there might be something to team sports. who knew?!

poll dancing, a strip club and a gay pride parade was my weekend. who the fuck do i think i am, i never party like that. the only regret i have is that i should have worn better sunscreen on my face at the parade, other than that, it was a crazy fun weekend.

new camera day!

i've decided to buy a digital camera today. over the weekend, while at the beach, my brother was playing with a dog and accidentally smacked into my face launching my camera into the sand. SAD! beyond repair, it is now time to buy a new one. i'm trying decide between the following three models:

keeping with the paris theme which has taken ahold of my interests right now, last night i saw another french film entitled LA VIE EN ROSE. it's the extraordinary life story of edith piaf and is outstandingly performed by an actress named marion cotillard. i spent the better part of the movie trying to figure out who the hell this girl was? i knew i've watched her before but couldn't place where. so, i went to imdb and HOLY SHIT, it's the chick from a good year. a movie i'm a little embarrassed to admit i saw. but, fucking A, that's her. this chick is an incredible actress. she was totally believable as edith piaf, a flawless performance. see it.

paris je t'aime

damn, i love a good movie. it feels like it's been a really fucking long time since i walked out of a theater and felt excited by something i had just spent hours absorbing. thankfully, this film is a refreshing switch from the usual movie-going i participate in. paris je t'aime

guerilla truck show on fulton

last night i went to a funky furniture show that featured local designers and artists using rented moving trucks as mini showrooms of their work. it was the coolest "new york" style art show i've seen in chicago for a while. the music and weather was perfect and i especially loved the random mix of people.

after the show, i was walking down the street and saw this beautiful bronco. then i noticed the old porsche parked across the street. i lost my shit. both white (my favorite color for a car) and both in perfect condition. i love summer in the city.

my weekend with gwen and sherri

i went to the gwen stefani and akon concert on friday. we took a limo and had a picnic on the lawn. lady sovereign opened for both acts, but she was lame. i think 20,000 people is too big of a venue for her. i saw her at the empty bottle year or so ago and thought she was much better. and damn, akon can dance. fun! i co-hosted sherri's baby shower on sunday. she's super preggers. wow. i can't wait to meet her new baby, due around august 13th ish. here are my pics from both events.
